BBJ Linen

January 12 at 10AM Brooke and I had an appointment to meet with Barb from BBJ Linen to pick out the table cloths, napkins, and all the other linens for our reception.

On our way to this meeting Brooke received a call about our contact no longer being with the catering company. More information in the previous post if you haven’t read about it already. The thing that really sucked about this was we were kind of counting on the catering company to help provide some input and information about the reception hall – since they’ve worked with the reception hall before.

Anyway we arrive at BBJ Linen and meet Barb – who was as helpful as she was friendly. Brooke’s mom had picked up some fabric sample from the bridesmaid’s dresses so she was going to meet us at BBJ Linen as well.

We got right into picking out table cloths – you wouldn’t believe the number of choices they have. It’s a good thing we already kind of knew what we wanted or else we could have spent all day there. Actually maybe not since we had some pretty good input from Barb.

We tried a few table cloths, some runners (which were in fact chair cover ties), chair covers, and some chair ties. We made a few changes from one table cloth to the other (and back again). Thankfully BBJ Linen has some “extras” to put on the table to help get the feel – as in plates, silverware, a fake cake, even a little centerpiece. It really helped make things a breeze.

We liked two different table cloths, one had stripes on it. OK really it was like a dull ivory and a shiny type ivory. Brooke and I both liked that one but really it came down to one thing… with everything on the table, you didn’t really notice the “stripes” on the cloth. So why spend extra money for that then the plain white ivory looked fine?

We had actually picked out most of the linens by the time Cyndi arrived. We showed her a few things and then moved on to the linens for the cake table. Again an ivory cloth but this time covered in a sheer pink fabric – with sparkles on it.

Overall it was a different experience than I thought it was going to be. I think we made some great choices and everything is going to look rather cool.

As for the someone from the catering company coming out – it never happened. So a few of the questions Barb had for us we couldn’t answer. Will our cake table be the same size as the dinner tables, or do they have something smaller? What about square or rectangular tables for the table with the guest book, or the hors dourves tables, or the head tables?

Anyway the linens are picked out and that’s one more thing we can cross off the list. Feels good.
