How many ladies does it take to pick out a dress?

Today we gathered up all the ladies and went to Amelishan Bridal to look at bridesmaid dresses. I was a bit excited because this meant I got to put on my dress again! Who doesn’t love getting all dressed up?

Everyone was there:
Becky, Brae, Bettina, Amy and Jenny (bridesmaids)
My mom
Dan’s mom
Samantha (flowergirl)

So, if you don’t know my sisters, I’ll tell you the truth. We all have our own opinions and will freely voice those opinions! Some liked this dress, others didn’t. The only thing that was set in stone, was that they were going to be pink. Of course, some people attempted to talk me out of pink, but I stood my ground. Amy and Jenny were very easy going and were okay with whatever everyone else decided on. I appreciated that!

Samantha tried on her dress and she LOVED it! She even walked around the store pretending to drop her flower petals. It was too cute!

We eventually settled on a dress that everyone liked. Everyone was measured and the dresses were ordered.

At this point, I was a bit glad to take the dress off because I was eager to sit down! How was I going to get through the wedding day?

Dress shopping trip #2

I was anxious to get back out and try on some more dresses. I met up with my sister, Becky, and my mom and we headed out to Richfield to stop at Amelishan Bridal. And I can’t tell you how to say it, since I’m not really even sure myself!

We pulled several dresses off the rack and I tried them on. None of them really stood out. I was feeling a bit discouraged, so we decided to go through the racks one more time. Becky found a few that she liked. The first one I tried on was gorgeous. I really liked this dress, but it wasn’t at all what I thought I would like. We put that one to the side and tried on the others. At the end, I put on that gorgeous dress again. I came out of the dressing room, stepped up to the mirror and it hit me. This is my wedding dress. I looked at my sister and mom and they both had tears in their eyes. We added a headpiece, veil and flowers and the look was complete! I HAD FOUND MY PERFECT DRESS!!

I was measured and the purchase was made!

I had gone from wanting a very simple, plain, white, spaghetti strap dress to getting a classy, beaded and embroidered, ivory, strapless gown….and I couldn’t have been happier!!

My sister, Brae, had mentioned that I should get out and get looking for a wedding dress. I was excited but a little nervous at the same time. It’s going to be extremely difficult to find the perfect dress. The dress that will make mom cry. The dress that will turn me into a bride. The dress that will take me from a fiancee to a wife.

I thought for sure I would like a very simple, plain, white dress with spaghetti straps. I didn’t want to look at strapless or ball gowns or dresses with lots of glam. I’m a plain jane and I need a plain jane dress.

Our first stop was Savvy Bride in Brookfield. The shop is adorable. The people working there are very helpful. My sister, Brae, and my mom started pulling some dresses off the rack. I ended up trying on a variety of dresses. I found a few that I liked, so we took note of those and kept on shopping.

We stopped at another shop, but they only took appointments. We used that time to look at some bridesmaid dresses and then we went on our way.

Our third stop was Beratti Bridal in Germantown. They also had a lot of unique dresses. I found one I really liked and we even took some pictures of that one.

As we drove home, I didn’t feel like I had found “my dress”. I found some nice ones, but not THE dress. I guess we needed to do more shopping.
