Photographer Questions
Posted by: Dan on Sep 18, 2007
In case other people are looking for questions to ask their (potential) photographer for their wedding … here’s a list of the questions I had:
Starting at the top of the sheet I had…
Appointment date:
Company name:
Contact name:
Contact phone:
Contact email:
Additional contact information:
Package name:
Number of hours shooting pictures:
Number of pictures:
1. How long have you been in business? How long have you been taking wedding pictures?
2. Does you contract stipulate date, time, total cost, and details of service we’ll receive?
3. Is there someone to cover in case you are unable to shoot that day? Is that person a professional photographer? How many years of experience do they have shooting weddings?
4. Are there additional fees to the package? (Travel time for example)
5. How many pictures are included in the package? How many pictures are typically taken at a wedding of this size?
6. Do you keep the negatives? For how long? Can we purchase them? For how much?
7. Can we purchase additional images in the future? How long is that option available to us?
8. Rough estimate on cost per picture…
4×6 – $
5×7 – $
8×10 – $
Other:
9. Will you incorporate our picture ideas?
10. Do you take a mixture of formal and candid pictures?
11. Do you do a mix of black and white, color and sepia pictures?
12. Notes on picture samples/examples.
13. Can we get in touch with (recent) former clients? (List names/phone numbers below)
So there’s the list. Numbers with multiple questions were grouped together mainly because I felt it was best to ask those questions in a series so I didn’t over look them. There also may be other concerns you have – like for example you may not want a photographer who shoots digital – make sure to ask.
